An Inspired Chat with Brian Buturla of Fairfield County, Norwalk Connecticut
We’re looking forward to introducing you to Brian Buturla. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Brian, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The New Year brings a new routine. After a body composition test I head straight to the hot shower. Since I am usually the first one in my Private Fitness Studio each day, I practice yoga and meditation with the lights off. As the sun rises, it brings balance and new ideas of how I would like to train my clients who visit during the day. I perform some core movements and tune up my adult middle aged body mostly with body weight exercises, a blend between calisthenics and HIIT. Last year I sat at my desk immediately upon waking in hopes of moving my business forward. This year I’ve shifted to taking care of my body first and it feels more aligned with my personal and business goals.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Brian Buturla, founder of a completely private fitness and mind-body studio in Norwalk, Connecticut, serving clients for over 30 years. I created one of the first true Private Studios in the region – a distraction-free, by-appointment experience designed for people who want exceptional results, not a crowded gym.
As a National Academy of Sports Medicine – Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist and Certified Nutrition Coach I define my life’s work as helping people rehabilitate their injuries, restore their lost mobility and increase their true functional strength.
As a 1,000-hour Dharma Yoga Registered Teacher I offer Private Yoga Instruction to individuals seeking transformative mental, physical and spiritual enlightenment. My mission is to help you make an unbreakable connection to your Higher Self!
All of my signature services are available both in-studio and virtually, allowing clients anywhere in the world to train with me in a highly personalized, one-on-one environment.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
In middle school, my father gave me a simple weight set – a bench, a barbell, and two dumbbells. The first time I lifted them, something ignited. Energy rushed through my body, my mind became clear, and I felt more alive than I ever had before. I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
It wasn’t just about getting stronger, it was about how training changed me. I was happier after exercising, my spirit become more positive and I was better natured. My confidence grew, and the world felt more manageable. That was the moment I realized movement wasn’t just exercise – it was a gateway to personal power.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Yes, all of my great mentors and teachers listened in one way or another. It changed everything for me. Early in my career, I worked with one exceptional teacher who didn’t just hear my words, but truly understood my intention. They listened to my questions, my frustrations, and my vision for what personal training and yoga could become. For the first time, I felt seen and not as just another trainer, but as someone with something meaningful to offer our industry.
That experience shaped how I work today. At Brian Buturla Studios, every client receives that same level of attention. I listen deeply to your goals, your injuries, your stress, and even what you don’t yet have words for. True listening creates trust, and trust creates transformation!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends are my students. I see them once or twice a week, every week, and we share something more meaningful than just a typical trainer-client relationship. They come to me seeking relief, strength, clarity, and transformation, whether that means finding stillness on a yoga mat, releasing chronic pain, or healing a long-time injury.
What truly matters to me is helping people experience bliss in their own bodies and lives. That’s often the first lesson: discovering what it feels like to move without pain, stress, or limitation. The second lesson is learning how to sustain it by showing up, doing the work, and committing to a higher standard of health, movement, and self-care.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m helping others find peace in themselves.
Through personal training and yoga, I help people reduce stress, heal from injury and trauma, restore balance, and build strong, healthy bodies. To me, peace is not passive, it’s the result of feeling capable, pain-free, centered, and confident in your own body.
Early in my career, I struggled to find that kind of peace in large commercial gyms and crowded yoga studios. Even when the facilities were impressive, something was always missing, noise, distractions, rushed sessions, or a lack of true personalization. As a perfectionist, I knew I could do better.
So I created something entirely different.
Brian Buturla Studios was built as a completely private, distraction-free environment, no front desk, no sales staff, no other trainers or classes. Just one teacher and one client, fully present. I designed it as a five-star experience where every session is focused 100% on the individual’s goals, needs, and well-being.
Over time, I expanded my work to include taiji, qigong, functional strength training, and advanced rehabilitative corrective yoga. The Brian Buturla Method grew out of a passion for healing, performance, and helping people move and live at their highest level.
That’s where I find peace: creating a space where people feel safe, supported, and capable of becoming their best selves. When you feel comfortable, strong, and truly seen, you can do anything and the results are extraordinary.
